It covers some 8,000 hectares (2,000 of which are marine) across eight municipalities: Torroella de Montgrí, Pals, Ullà, Gualta, Palau-Sator, Bellcaire de l’Empordà, l’Escala and Fontanilles.
The park comprises three major landscape areas:
The Montgrí massif, characterised by limestone formations and Mediterranean cliffs.
The Medes Islands, an international benchmark for diving and marine conservation.
The Baix Ter, featuring wetlands, lagoons, dunes and the mouth of the River Ter.
The combination of these ecosystems within a single protected area creates exceptional biodiversity both on land and underwater.
