Anthony Patrick Murray, originally from the United Kingdom, arrived in L'Estartit and was captivated by the Medes Islands and the Montgrí coast, long before they were recognised as the internationally renowned Natural Park they are today. Together with his wife, Lynn Berry, he had the vision to open the Costa Brava’s first diving centre in 1965, alongside a tavern called “La Tortuga”.
There, they created much more than a business: a place where people could enjoy unique experiences and share unforgettable moments through diving.
Over time, the project evolved. In 2003, Unisub acquired the Tritón, our main boat. After many years of history at the much-loved tavern “La Tortuga”, where we shared barbecues with our customers and friends, the decision was made to bring that chapter to a close and focus entirely on the world of diving.
Sean’s daughters, Tania and Claudia, have joined the adventure. Thanks to this, and to a great team of loyal staff – Willy has been with Unisub for 20 years, Nancy for over 15, and Miquel and François for over 10 – Unisub remains a family business where every member of the team feels part of a big family.
To convey this to our customers, a key step has been a change of location: Unisub is now right next to the L'Estartit Tourist Office, in premises housing a Cressi shop, classrooms, and relaxation, study and information areas where everyone is invited to feel at home.
We have created this space of over 300 m² to enjoy new experiences and thus bring things full circle for future generations.
